The Club applied for Office of Regulatory Services Incorporation in February 1991 and became an affilliate of Dogs ACT in March 1991. The inaugural Committee was:

The Club's aims and objectives are to:
promote the breed by providing information and advice about its care and welfare.
promote the breed by hosting events such as exhibitions, championship shows and other educational events.
promote the breed via Dogs ACT and participation in other applicable public forums.
The Club hosted its first and second Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Specialty Championship Shows on the weekend of 16-17 November 1991, and received an entry of 103 dogs and bitches on 16 November and 105 on 17 November. Judges for the weekend were the late Mr Tom and Mrs June Boardman (Volney Kennels, UK).
