2019 Heart Clinic - Information and Bookings
The CKCS Club of Canberra works with Dogs ACT in order to access Dr Niek Beijerink's (Sydney University) expertise for screening of heart conditions in all breeds. Dates for Dr Beijerink's annual Canberra heart clinic for 2019 are yet to be determined.

Cavalier auscultation only: $40 (Saturday morning). General certificate can be downloaded from the link . It helps if the owners fill out the form prior to attending the clinic.
Cavalier Echocardiograpahy - $250.00
Cavaliers aged 8+: auscultation, blood collection and echocardiography: free of charge, provided the owner signs consent forms for Dr Beijerink to use the data anonymously for research investigating the cause of heart failure in Cavaliers. These dogs have to be done in the afternoon (Quokka). Consent form and information statement since 2015 attached.
All Other breeds auscultation only: $40 (Sunday morning).
Auscultation and echocardiography: $250. Screening for congenital heart disease (for example subvalvular aortic stenosis) or acquired heart disease other than mitral valve disease (dilated cardiomyopathy for example) generally consists of echocardiography as well. Common breeds for screening of these diseases are Golden Retrievers, Irish Wolfhounds, Great Danes, Doberman Pinschers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Boxers. These exams generally take about 30 minutes per dog.
